The lake in Agua Fria canyon is a seasonal lake, filling in the summer monsoon and lasting for maonths or sometimes years, afterwards. It does not fill completely every year, but it is sure fun to watch the wildlife and tons of water dogs when it is here.
Record rainfall in the summer of 2006 resulted in the lake being 1.3 miles long at its zenith. it was 50 to 200 yards wide.
Several small dams help hold reservoirs of deeper water . Once the lake bed begins to evaporate, it is an excellent source of feed for cattle, elk and deer.
It is fun to watch the different phases of the lake year round.
